HERCULES DINING FACILITY OPEN TO OTHERS

The 19th Force Support Squadron announced retirees, their immediate family members and Little Rock Air Force Base federal civilian police are now able to dine at the Hercules Dining Facility for all meals, with the exception of the lunch meal on weekdays. Hours of operation are: Monday to Friday breakfast from 6 to 7:30 a.m.; lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m.; Weekend and holidays brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call Capt. INVALIDATION/CANCELLATION OF BIRTH CERTIFICATES ISSUED IN PUERTO RICO

A Puerto Rican law is scheduled to be implemented July 1, canceling or invalidating all birth certificates issued by Puerto Rico prior to June 30. Affected Airmen, civilian employees and family members need to request a new birth certificate. For new accessions, certificates issued by Puerto Rico prior to June 30 will become invalid and won’t be used to verify eligibility for enlistment into the military effective July 1. RELAY FOR LIFE

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Jacksonville is registering teams for the Relay for Life occurring 6 p.m. today – 7 a.m. Saturday at the Jacksonville High School Stadium. The goal for Relay for Life is to keep at least one team member on the track or pathway at all times during the event. Teams can register on-line at RelayForLife.org/jacksonvillear. VEGAS NIGHT APRIL 30

TUSKEGEE AIRMEN SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE AWARD

The Tuskegee Airmen Inc. Decatur Chapter provides scholarship assistance awards to three graduating high school seniors preparing to enter college or technical school in the fall of 2010. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior within the Arkansas School District, graduating in the school year 2009 -2010. Additionally, applying students must have a minimum grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent and submit a two page essay on “What the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy Means to Me.” Completed applications must be post marked on or before April 30. KEY SPOUSES SAFETY FOCUS GROUP MAY 7

The Air Force Safety Center is enlisting the support of Key Spouses, officer and enlisted, to participate in a Safety Focus Group at 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. May 7 at Bldg. 668. The forum will openly discuss safety issues impacting Airmen and approaches to reduce the number of lives lost due to motorcycle, cars and other 4-wheeled vehicles. SPECIAL-NEEDS CHILDREN'S PAARENTS' NIGHT OUT MAY 7

The 19th Medical Group sponsors a “Parents’ Night Out” for the parents of special-needs children, 5 to 8 p.m., May 7 at the Jacksonville library. Medical staff members provide childcare during this time. This event is free and siblings are welcome. 19TH FSS CUSTOMER SERVICE CLOSED MAY 10

The 19th Forces Support Squadron’s customer service section is closed May 10 for training. Members needing DEERS updates or ID cards on this day can use the alternate facility at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. To get to Camp Robinson, take highway 67/167 south to Interstate 40 west. Exit at Exit 150 - the Burns Park, Camp Robinson exit. Turn left on Mac Arthur Drive and then right on East Military Drive to enter Camp Robinson. Turn right on South Dakota Avenue, and left on 6th Street until 6th Street and Arkansas Avenue is reached. The building will have three flag poles out front. AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION STAIR-CLUB EVENT MAY 22

The American Lung Association hosts a stair-climb event May 22 at Metropolitan Tower, downtown Little Rock. To register as a climber for the base’s team, visit BreatheHealthy.org/ARStairclimb. 2010 MASTER SERGEANT AND TECHNICAL SERGEANT PROMOTION RELEASE DATES

The Air Force Personnel Center has announced the promotion result release dates for the 2010 E6 and E7 cycle. The master sergeant promotion results are scheduled to be released May 27 and the technical sergeant results are scheduled to be released June 17. Promotion results are made available on the vMPF site through the Air Force Portal.

STUDENT SUMMER HIRE POSITIONS AVAILABLE

The Little Rock Air Force Base Civilian Personnel Office have applications available for the following summer hire positions: GS-02, GS-03 and GS-04 Lifeguards; GS-01 Clerks; and WG-01 Laborers.

Applicants must submit a completed application package consisting of: Optional Form 612, Optional Form 306 (Both forms are available at www.opm.gov/forms/html/of.asp), college transcripts or letter on official school letterhead from counselor or registrar, copy of birth certificate, copy of a non-expired student photo ID card from their school or valid driver’s license and the 2010 summer hire checklist (available at the Civilian Personnel Office or call to have one e-mailed).

Lifeguard applicants must also include a copy of current, nationally recognized lifeguard certification, first-aid certification, and CPR certification to include adults, children and infants.

Application packages can be submitted to the Civilian Personnel Office, 19FSS/FSMC, 1255 Vandenberg Blvd., Ste. 227, Little Rock AFB, AR, 72099-5052.

Applicants must specify which position that they are applying for and submit an Optional Form 612 for each job they wish to be considered. All applications must be received by June 11. For more information call the civilian personnel office at 987-3212.

ANNUAL GOSPEL MUSIC CONCERT JUNE 12

The base chapel’s Gospel service hosts the annual gospel music concert at 1 p.m. June 12 at the base chapel. This year’s theme is “God’s people giving back to the military community.” For more information, call Chaplain Demetrice Swift at 987-6014.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR

Now through June 15, the merging lane from John Hardin Drive to Vandenberg Boulevard is scheduled for construction to repair and patch a portion of deteriorated pavement that has developed a sink hole. During this time, all inbound traffic is encouraged to use the James Street or Main Street exit to access the base. Once this repair is complete, construction on the merge lane from Vandenberg Boulevard to John Hardin Drive to extend the turn lane will begin. This will take approximately six weeks to complete. All outbound traffic from the base is encouraged to use Marshall Road as an alternate route.
